Hi there, What a lovely warm- read;HOT + sweltering- day :) 4 degrees less than yesterday's 36 !! But this small mercy gives every bird and unknown ? unappreciated animal and insect in my garden a welcome respite!  It is that time of year when the plants in my garden are looking tacky from wind and heat abuse , but it is not yet cool enough to plant them out in a better spot than the one they are in. The problem is that the trees in the garden either grew too high and we have shade over sun loving plants, or, I hacked off too many branches early one morning , when I just was fed up with too many thick, leavy branches, and now the shade loving plants have brown leaves and green tips ! It goes without saying, that where there is life, albeit only a little at the top, I am loath to pluck it out. :(
Now, I stay inside , take up all the back copies of my favourite gardening magazines, and even the left over gardening books from Granny's bookshelf, ( she will be 90 in May) , yes, anything that may breed inspiration and excitement ! So I start planning new hanging baskets for April/May and also new colour combinations in pots, writing down names and blooming times and heights and growing preferences.
That done, I can relax, feeling rejuvinated at achieving something lasting to build on in April, and having new energy for the next step in my day- starting with dinner before Hubby gets home. So, after dinner I open the drawer to file this important pieceof paper under ' GARDENING: April' , and lo and behold,; a near identical piece of paper stares me in the face - done last year , and never looked at again !

Even so, the exercise was worth the effort for the energy surge  and sense of achievement I got from it. Now when I look at those dreary hanging baskets, I can choose to see colour and life in my mind's eye.
ENJOY YOUR GARDEN
